Workshops and Classes

Explore Ice dyeing techniques for creating beautifully textured and brilliantly colored fabric for quilting and sewing.  Student will dye 4 fat quarters in the class in the colors of their choosing and learn how to treat fabric before and after dying for best results.  We’ll also play with color mixing to discover how to get the best results from the dyes. They’ll take their dyed project home in a sealed container for curing and washing out at home.

Ages- adult

Explore Ice dyeing techniques for creating beautifully patterned and brilliantly colored bandanas (can also. E scarves, hankies, gift wrap and more .  Student will dye a bandana in the colors of their choosing and learn how to treat fabric before and after dying for best results.  They’ll take their dyed project home in a sealed container for curing and washing out at home.

Learn about the Japanese art of visible mending plus modern takes on turning damaged clothing into wearable works of art. No embroidery experience necessary. Students will supply their own article of clothing to mend (preferably a woven material not a stretch knit) and may choose from additional materials provided.
Age: 12 and up

Class length: 2 hrs

Students will learn a variety of hand stitches in order to create hand embroidered felt ornaments, choosing colors, designs and stitches.  Each student will have a choice of materials to create an ornament to use as decoration or to give as gifts for the holidays. They will also receive a mini stitch guide to take home to complete their projects.

Ages: 16 and up

Students will learn a variety of hand stitches in order to create hand stitched

patches , choosing colors, designs and stitches.  Each student will have a choice of materials to create a fun patch that they can use to personalize clothing and accessories. 

Bring a friend and a favorite beverage and learn to make a hand-stitched bracelet bangle or bookmark using Bargello needlepoint techniques. Choose from set color schemes or go your own way! Enjoy some stitching and chatting time while learning a traditional needlepoint technique brought to life in a colorful, modern way. All supplies provided.

Beginner Knitting

1 1.5 hour class and 3 1 hr classes

Ages 12 and up

Learn to knit a cosy winter hat!  Perfect beginner project! Plenty of colors to choose from.  Students learn casting on, knit stitch, decreasing and how to finish. Students will also learn how to make an optional pom pom for your hat.

Turn a tshirt into yarn and then make a dishcloth or pot holder! Suitable for beginner knitters.  We’ll learn how to turn old shirts into usable yarn, and make into a useful kitchen item! Students will need to provide a tshirt (100% cotton if using as a pot holder), ruler, sharp scissors or rotary cutter. Knitting needles and a yarn needle will also be provided as part of the class cost. 
Age: 16 and up

2 Class sessions(Or 1 3.5 hr class)

Learn to knit a pair of coat fingerless mitts!  Perfect beginner project! Plenty of colors to choose from.  Will learn casting on, knit stitch, cast off and how to finish.  

Age: 16 and up

Class length: 2 1.5 hour sessions

Make a cute gnome hanger or magnet!  

These adorable gnome friends are made from repurposed materials from sewing and interior design businesses.  We’ll teach you how, no previous skill required!  Suitable for older kids and adults!  (We’ll use scissors and hot glue, so no young ones without adult assistance)

Making time is approx. 15-30 minutes.

Cost $8

Make a gnome buddy shelf sitter from upcycled materials.  You’ll get to pick colors, features and accessories for your gnome and assemble them into a stuffed friend to sit on your shelf. 

Age: 12 and up (younger with adult assistance)
